First of all let me say that I’m here because I truly believe that God has anointed me for such a time as this, to sing praises unto His Great Name!!! Singing is my life, it is my weapon, it is my relief, and it is my ministry. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t singing. I know this is my life’s purpose, and I believe that it is my season to walk in the favor of the Lord. (Just had to encourage myself in the Lord…as the song says)

I wanted to explain why I sing and God just dropped in my spirit to tell of my experience with my grandmother…

On February 15, 2008, I had the pleasure of singing her right into heavens doors. I get excited just thinking about it. It was truly a joyous occasion. As the scripture says, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19) …but she had hope in another life, eternal life with Christ; therefore, she is most blessed!!! That life that she entered into is the life that I sing about, so that others may come to know and receive Christ in their hearts.

I had the pleasure of spending some of my grandmother’s lasts nights on earth with her. She was a praying woman until the end. God even honored her request to see her birthday, which she did on February 14, 2008. That night, I sang happy birthday to her right in the ICU and she just smiled like she was in heaven already. On the next morning, I got a call at work around 10, saying that all the family should come right away to the hospital. She called us all together to see her enter in.

When I arrived, my father told of how she sat up in the bed and told him and her oldest son to call for the chaplain. She stated, “I’m ready to go home.” She had enjoyed her life and God had fulfilled her request. Now she was ready to go home. I believe when we live according to God’s word, He will grant you the desires of your heart and that He will not allow things to take you by surprise. Therefore, she knew her time was at hand and she called us all together. God gave us favor, and the hospital allowed my entire family (all her children, grandchildren, even some of her great, and great-great grandchildren) to be with her in the ICU. My wonderful Pastor was right there too… I just love him

We all came together and each of us expressed to her how much she meant to us as a family and how much we appreciated her individually for her love toward us and the strength she instilled in us all. Then we prayed together and praised God for her life. I sang to her and God, Great is Thy Faithfulness, the song which describes the sentiment of my heart because God has truly been faithful to me and my family. My pastor sealed it with Prayer. She sat up in the bed and just praised God, and waved her hands saying “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus”. Then she just asked God to receive her. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

I truly believe that because her life pleased God, He gave her that beautiful home going. God gave us that special time with her and allowed her to be alert so that she could understand all that was said. She even told us when the angels of the Lord came to receive her. Then she just went in PEACE.
Most importantly, I know she was saved. She loved God with everything in her. Her life was in order. She was PREPARED to see the LORD. This was the greatest experience of my life. I am encouraged to love God all the more and live right so that I too can see His face in PEACE. This is why I sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
